Sheila spent most of her summers during high school and college working in her uncle’s real estate business, assisting with paperwork and the upkeep of his rental properties. Although real estate always piqued her interest, she decided to pursue a degree in elementary and special education at Bowling Green State University. After graduating from college, Sheila intermittently worked as a substitute elementary school teacher while raising her five children. She became certified as an Orton Gillingham reading instructor and accepted a position as an intervention specialist. Sheila is passionate about teaching students with learning differences how to read, and she continues to tutor children with special needs such as dyslexia in her spare time. Ultimately, she decided to pursue a different full-time career as a real estate agent. As she explained, “Someone wise once told me you can do many things in life – you don’t have to pick just one.”
One of Sheila’s other passions is taking on home renovation projects. She learned how to sand, stain and paint her family’s wood Lyman boat at an early age. She loves repurposing old furniture and updating rooms in her home. Her projects have included repainting rooms, building and adding shiplap planking to walls, making and staining barn-like doors for closets and windows, and refinishing tables, cabinets, dressers and more. She would rather sand, paint or stain anything than strip wallpaper! “Having a knack for home renovations allows me to help others envision the potential of houses that might need a little extra TLC,” she points out.
One of the key reasons Sheila is drawn to real estate is the opportunity to help others. “As a realtor, I guide clients as they make one of the most important decisions of their lives – where to live. It’s much more than just helping your clients buy or sell a house – it’s about being a trusted agent and providing critical input. I feel honored to serve in that role.”
Sheila lives in Avon Lake with her husband of 30 years, their five children, and their two dogs. She grew up boating on Lake Erie, and she loves spending time at a family cottage in Catawba. She especially enjoys lounging on the beach, jet skiing, boat rides, fishing, and biking around the islands. When the weather turns colder, she and her husband ski with their children and friends in New York, Michigan, Colorado, Nevada and California.
Sheila looks forward to helping those who want to purchase or sell real estate. She will serve those clients with the same level of commitment and honesty that she has consistently displayed in her other relationships.
